Sugarloaf Ridge Hours and Fees
Park Hours
- Park: 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.
- Visitor Center: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily when staffed. Volunteers sometimes keep it open until 7 p.m. on summer Friday evenings.
- Entry kiosk: staffed on weekends and most holidays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Park office: 707-833-5712, every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Campers in the campground stay overnight; day visitors should be back at their cars before 10 p.m. Star parties at the Robert Ferguson Observatory run on their own schedule.
2026 Day Use Fees
The park is run day to day by the nonprofit Sonoma Ecology Center, which collects the entry fee and lists these rates:
- Regular vehicle: $10.
- Senior (62 and older), student, or current or retired military: $8 per vehicle.
- Bus, under 50 passengers: $50.
- Bus, 50 or more passengers: $100.
- School tours and school groups: free for day use when arranged in advance through the park office.
California State Parks' own listing for the park shows an $8 vehicle fee. Because the operator sets and collects the fee at the gate, this page uses the operator's numbers; check the operator's pass page if you want to confirm before you go.
Where to Pay
- Automated pay station across from the kiosk at the upper park entrance (cash, exact change, or card).
- Iron ranger (a cash drop box) at the Goodspeed trailhead in the lower part of the park.
- Staffed kiosk on weekends and most holidays (cash or card).
- Visitor Center during open hours (cash or card).
- Online in advance on the operator's website; show the email receipt on your dashboard.
There is no free parking along Adobe Canyon Road, even outside the park boundary, so pay even if you only plan a short walk to the waterfall (waterfall parking).

Annual Passes
- Sugarloaf annual day-use pass: $59. It is good for one year from purchase and also admits you to Jack London State Historic Park. Buy it online and the operator mails the physical pass; bought at the pay station, contact the office with your address and transaction number.
- Higher membership levels: the operator also sells Oak ($125), Big Leaf Maple ($250) and Sequoia ($500) memberships that add event discounts and other perks.
- California State Parks passes: Passes State Parks accepts here: the Golden Poppy and California Explorer vehicle day-use passes, the Senior Golden Bear and Golden Bear passes, the Distinguished Veteran Pass, the Disabled Discount Pass, and the parks pass you can borrow through the California State Library.
Do Seniors Get In Free?
No. Seniors 62 and older pay a reduced $8 vehicle fee. Some state passes lower the cost further: the Disabled Discount Pass gives 50% off day use and camping, and the Distinguished Veteran Pass gives free entry and camping.
Why the Fees Matter Here
Sugarloaf Ridge does not get operating money from the state. The Sonoma Ecology Center says the park depends on day-use and camping fees, memberships and donations to stay open, which is part of why there is no free parking on the access road.
